These Are Not Your Grandmothers Buttons

Natural wood button 25 September 2009 - Jo Williams

Buttons are not just functional any more, they’re the perfect embellishment.  The right buttons can make a garment smart and complete.  Beautiful buttons can change the look of a drab outfit to a fab outfit.

You can add the right amount of color, texture, glitz, or highlight to an outfit with a good choice of buttons.  These Natural World buttons have all of the qualities above.  Made from horn, they give a wonderful natural hue to any outfit.  Self-covered buttons are perfect for a tailored look, or to make unique, creative buttons.

Thonging

Wooden beads, either single or paired, make fabulous enclosures.  A single frog enclosure for a shrug or cloak would be perfect.  And they come in colors, too.  Beautiful, earthy horn beads would serve the same job well.  Pair any of them with leather thonging  or twisted cord for an enclosure to a jacket or a purse that rocks.

Glass beads

Three Cheers for Embellishment

Embellishment is so much fun and can really make an outfit complete.  Glass beads are not just for jewelry, they can be a great embellishment for scarves, belts, or shrugs, and a few is all you need for the right glittery touch.

Braids, trims, lace trims, and this season’s most popular fringe trim can be used effectively to edge a garment and update something old with new life.

Embellishment is the spice of fashion.  It can give a fresh edge to something old or something new.
