September Is National Sewing Month
September 2009
September is National Sewing Month in the U.S. I’ve been running across news of this celebration all over the internet. The observance of National Sewing Month began with a proclamation from President Regan in 1982, “In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation.”
I say we join in the celebration of home sewing. National Sewing Month.org has lots of ideas and information. The theme for this year is Reuse, Remake, Restyle. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? For a host of free patterns and projects, check out Sewing.org’s website. I plan to observe National Sewing Month by starting a new project, of course. Or two or three. I’m planning on a new project bag, some gifts for friends, and a new fall dress. Check out 10 Fall Trends You’ll Love to Wear.If you’re planning a new project, make sure you have all the haberdashery on hand. Sewing supplies, sewing thread, new machine needles, sharp pins, good scissors, or fabric cutters and fasteners. If you put thought into planning your project up-front, you’ll save yourself those pesky interruptions that stall your project and delay gratification.
Happy Sewing in September! Leave a comment and tell us what you’re planning to sew.

Your Comment: I'm sewing my children clothes for the "school year" (even though we homeschool). I'm just finishing my son's four pair of pants, and my daughter will be getting five a-line dresses. I make their winter coats every year too!, , http://www.flickr.com/photos/kellyhogaboom/3410006879/, , http://www.flickr.com/photos/kellyhogaboom/3824796891/
