I Couldn’t Live In A World Without Ribbons

Ribbon is the quintessential embellishment.   Bows, packages, trims, flowers, embroidery, and gifts… just think how dull life would be without ribbon!

Sewing-online has one of the largest supplies of ribbon available in one place.  Woven, sheer, wire-edged… a ribbon lover’s delight.  If you are a ribbon-lover, like myself, here are some great books you’ll want to check out:

I recently ran across a lovely book, The Simple Art of Ribbon Design, by Deborrah Henry.  The instructions are clear, the photography beautiful, and the ideas plentiful; a nice resource book to have on your shelf.

If you are truly looking to learn more about ribbonwork, you’ll want to get something by Helen Gibb, a ribbonwork expert.  Ribbonwork the Complete Guide:  Technique Guide for Making Ribbon Flowers and Trimmings highlights several stunning techniques and is a great resource.

The Complete Photo Guide to Ribbon Crafts, by Elaine Schmidt, is due to be released in January.  This one is already on my wish-list.  With 700 photos and 224 pages, it promises to be an exhaustive resource.

“Each day comes bearing it’s own gifts.  Untie the ribbons.”  Ruth Ann Schabacker
